If you would like to start a committee or join one, please reach out to us at annettestps@gmail.com!
There are a number of volunteer run committees established at Annette St PS to enrich and improve the student school experience. These committees vary from year to year as demand requires.
You do not need to be an elected member of Parent Council to run or be on a committee, all parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to participate! Ideally each year we would have committees to cover all aspects of student enrichment from Arts, to Fitness, to the Environment and to help run the more fundamental aspects of enrichment such as Finance, Fundraising and Communications.
Active Committees 2026-2027
Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee runs community building events and fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for student enrichment, resources, and extracurriculars that aren't covered by the regular school budget.
From monthly Pizza Lunches to the always popular Annual Fun Fair, there are initiatives run throughout the year to help increase funds for the school.
The School Council works closely with the School to coordinate funding efforts that ensure:
Funds support the School Improvement Plan (SIP) to complement school directives and ensure a collaborative united approach to our children’s learning.
Funds raised are primarily directed to Enrichment programs to complement Teacher’s education plan.
Every child has access to all programs or opportunities provided if they want to participate so that no child feels left out.
No family is overburdened throughout the school year through competing initiatives from the school, teacher and council fundraising campaigns.
Mental Health and Wellness Committee
The Mental Health and Wellness Committee offers resources and workshops for the Annette community in support of:
Student emotional wellness (managing conflict and interpersonal skills, mindfulness based approaches for anxiety reduction, fostering inclusive and open minds, building self esteem etc )

Collaborating with Administration on new Ed Tech policy to create healthier student body
Teacher Lunch & Learns to support student wellness and school community
Athletics Committee
The Athletics Committee works with our physical education teachers to support extra-curricular student athletics and tournaments. This includes:
Organizing Parent volunteers for events and practices
Running Equipment drives of sports gear for the school
Working with the Fundraising Committee to support funding for Athletic needs.
Advocacy Committee
Part of Council’s role is to actively advocate for accountability in our public education system and for student achievement and well-being. The Advocacy Committee works with the Annette Parents to keep them informed on the state of public education in Toronto and to identify pressing questions, concerns, and priorities related to public education. The Committee is responsible for keeping up to date on these issues and reporting back about actions and upcoming events related to these issues.
